Former President Donald Trump has backed out of an interview with CBS Information’ “60 Minutes” after initially agreeing to it, the program said Tuesday in a press release.
“For over half a century, 60 Minutes has invited the Democratic and Republican tickets to seem on our broadcast as People head to the polls,” the assertion learn, saying that each Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris had accepted the invitation.
Harris has not backed out, however Trump has, the assertion asserts.
“After initially accepting 60 Minutes’ request for an interview with Scott Pelley, former President Trump’s marketing campaign has determined to not take part,” in line with the assertion. “Pelley will deal with this Monday night.”
David Plouffe, a senior adviser to the Harris marketing campaign, called Trump “afraid” on X, previously Twitter.
“Afraid of the talk stage,” Plouffe posted, referencing Trump’s unwillingness to debate Harris a second time. “Afraid of 60 minutes. And his marketing campaign crew – after the final three days of more and more unhinged and unstable ranting at his rallies – is clearly afraid of exposing him past snug confines.”
Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the Trump marketing campaign, disputed that Trump had ever agreed to the interview.
“Pretend Information,” Cheung posted on X Tuesday in response to the “60 Minutes” assertion. “60 Minutes begged for an interview, even after they have been caught mendacity about Hunter Biden’s laptop computer again in 2020.
