The journalist spoke to MSNBC colleague Chris Hayes after interviewing the Democratic presidential nominee to replicate on their dialog. Hayes started by praising Ruhle for the “nice interview,” which he described as “refreshingly substantive.”
“I feel what you’re really complimenting is that it was a standard interview, Chris,” Ruhle replied. “That’s really what it was. It was a standard interview. It was an individual operating to be the president of the USA, and for 25 minutes, we talked about their imaginative and prescient, and we talked about coverage.”
“I feel that it’s simply that we’re so desensitized in that so many interviews that that we can we’re pressured to cowl a lot lunacy, or a lot loopy, or a lot fact-checking, or get distracted by so many points that aren’t core insurance policies that serve the American folks,” she added, in a transparent reference to former President Donald Trump and Republicans that adhere to his model of politics. “What you noticed proper there was simply form of a basic interview with someone operating for president.”
It was Harris’ first one-on-one with a significant cable information community since turning into the nominee. She discussed her financial agenda, immigration and reproductive rights, in addition to her determination to pick Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her operating mate.
